Different views = good??

SB's GAL came by. She can commiserate with my mixed feelings. She has been on my side of the fence herself.  Makes me think a little more positive of SB's case. She didn't know about possible family.

So all in all I am a little happier after leaving this meeting. Some info was explained a bit more, and I was left with a little bit happier spirit. Again nothing is set in stone, and things could happen, but other things would have to have to happen first.

Visit

Today we had SB's worker over. Our hopes of a possible future with SB were somewhat dashed.  Biomom has stated she would like transfer of placement. There may be a possible semi related family member that may be willing to take SB. There are issues with this person so that would have to get figured out via courts.  Also possible bio dad appears to be more interested in the case.  We knew this may not be permanent placement but were somewhat at least hoping and praying. We are still hoping/praying, but our chances for finalization with him seems less and less likely.  I guess that would be good for SB to have roots-but it is sad to think SB may not be with us for long. I just need to remember to "keep my chin up" and stay positive with this stuff. We knew what we were getting into in theory when we started- now we aren't so sure we really realized how quickly we would get attached.  Praying people-keep us in prayer-thanks :)

Diapering Adventures!

Some of you may know that we decided to give cloth diapers a try. We spent a lot of time going back and forth. We have done the diaper discussion for a while, even before we got String Bean.  Once getting SB, we got disposable diapers & were gifted disposable diapers as well.  So we didn't have to think about what we were going to do right away.  We recently went back into the convo about cloth. The ultimate reason hubby didn't want them at first and many people don't want them is to deal with the poop.  At that time I had been washing out baby washcloths that we were using since he had a diap rash, so ummm - the poop thing really wasn't a biggie for me by then.  So we decided to just try them out, and see how it goes.  We bought a diaper that a friend uses and a few inserts for them.  We got three diaper changes out of the shell and inserts before we washed it all.  Hubby realized that these are just as easy as disposable diaps, just unsnap insert ans snap a new one in.

Now we do plan to cloth diap 50-75% of the time. There will be certain reasons to prefer disposable over cloth. Mainly for visitations as they will probably easier for biomom to do and also possible for overnights once SB sleeps though the night.  The reasons I am choosing cloth is I think they are better for baby-less chemicals on his skin. And also, although they are pricey up front, ultimately it is cheaper to cloth diaper a baby.

So the diapers we are using are Best Bottom diapers with maybe a few BumGenius thrown in. Best Bottom's are snap in insert diaps that grow with your baby.

Also I am really excited to try out "baby wearing." It is supposed to be very good for the baby. I believe my aunt bought me a wrap I registered for-so I am excited to try it out!!

Nothing New = Good for you!

We have seen a decent amount of people lately, mostly family or friends of fam. Somehow they all know we are fostering a newborn and some of why he is in the system... First off thanks fam for keeping it "confidential"...  M&D was told because they are emergency contacts and if needed evacuation registered home (via child services).  Anyhow, people have been asking about his visits and some other things.  I tell them what I can.   Then we hear "Oh! That's great for you guys!"  Yes it is wonderful-and truly on one hand I am very happy things are working out the way they are.  Then comes my other feelings. The feelings most foster parents would have.  I wish someone from his family would show SB some love and show how important SB is to them.  We so love SB and show SB love constantly.

New since starting this post.... We found out more visitation info and I don't know what to think. The news is good for us, but it makes me kinda worry about biomom...  I guess I just need to keep taking it month by month and not worry to much about it.

Becoming one of "those" people

Not to long ago you will remember that I jokingly said a lot of our friends do the "mommy talk" as in talk all about different aspects of their kid. Lemme just say... I don't know when it happened but we have become like them.  When talking to other parents all we tend to talk about is how often SB sleeps, does SB sleep well at night, how often does SB poop, should SB poop this much, does SB's diaper rash look bad enough to go to the doctor.   Also that is what seams to take up most of our googling....right now hubbs is looking up how often String Bean should be pooping....

So I know I haven't blogged in a while. Again I have been somewhat busy-more sleep deprived than anything.  I have been enjoying our time with String Bean-who by the way is getting some chub on him :)  I have been getting used to being told "your son" from his doctor. (Yes he knows he is a foster placement). I have also been getting used to the 3ish am feedings/diaper changes, the constantly peeing out of outfits at change no matter how hard we try to guard against, the sweet little dreaming sounds, and how peaceful he is.  I also like his worker-which is good.  SB's worker has been trying to get a hold of her to set stuff up-no such luck yet. Kinda scared that if they cant get a hold of bmom, judge may mandate certain dates at next court. Scared that it would be whatever works for bmom, and if I'm not avail-oh well-visitation would still happen.  I guess we will just have to see how it goes

Reality

Reality is setting in. String Bean came here on Sunday, and has been a joy since. I fell in love with him, the moment I set my eyes on him. He is not a fussy one, and is currently snuggling right by me.

Today we found out bio m&d got a ride to court, and gets visitation if she complies with the visitation requirements.  I have said this whole time that I hope visitation works out. I am one of the odd people, were in the same breath I can say I love him to bits, and say that I hope his bio family gets their act together. I have originally thought that I would like to drive him to the meeting place myself, but now I don't know. I think I may be too emotional.  I guess I worry that bio m will show and not feed/change him. I worry about how he will relate to her as he has been apart from her for a while.  I worry if she really is wanting to clean up & is wanting to work to become a new person. I worry about putting myself through the stress of this and bio m doesnt show.

Hmmm, i guess we will find out soon, apparently first visit needs to be in next 5 days.  I can totally see how foster parents say to keep detailed calendar! holy crud! Ok well off to enjoy my little guy as long as possible.
